These photos were taken at the Rohtang Pass. The elevation there is about 4000 metres. The rarefied air makes me feel like an old man with emphysema. The wind cuts through my jacket and chills me to the bone. Now I know why all the other tourists were renting snowsuits on the way up.
It is like the moon up here. There are no trees or foliage as far I can see, and I can see a long way from here. The trip up here was nearly as exciting as being here. Our driver navigates the dirt tracks that corkscrew their way around the mountains with panache.
